First Time Homebuyers Program

Cortland Housing Assistance

Cortland Housing Assistance Council, Inc. and the Empire Development Corporation have received funds under the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation’s Affordable Home-Ownership Program. This program will offer subsidies to eligible first-time home buyers to be used toward reducing closing costs and for rehabilitation of the property after purchase.

The applicant will be responsible for obtaining a mortgage with a lending institution.

Housing counseling will be provided to all eligible applicants. The sessions will include pre-purchase and budget counseling.

The potential homeowners must meet income guidelines and the structure must be located within Cortland County. Only single-family homes will be eligible. The structure must require some updating or improvements.
